INVISALIGN®
Invisalign® is the best alternative to traditional metal braces on the market today. Rather than using brackets, wires, and rubber bands, Invisalign® uses straighteners made of clear, flexible plastic. They are just as effective as braces, but nearly invisible and a lot less painful to wear. Invisalign® is actually a custom-made aligner that is changed every two to three weeks for a period of eight to twelve months for most patients. Similar to a retainer, an Invisalign® aligner is used for orthodontic treatment as a technique to shift and properly align your teeth for a beautiful smile. We use digital imaging so that you can see your smile with perfect teeth before you start the process. The aligner is uniquely fit to your mouth. Invisalign® aligners are made of a very flexible plastic material, so your smile transforms brilliantly, and with less pain than traditional braces.
ADVANTAGES OF INVISALIGN®
Invisalign® works quicker than traditional braces. Traditional metal braces most often take an average of two years to achieve their full results. Invisalign® can work in about half that time, depending on the scope of the problem!
Invisalign® is more convenient than traditional braces. Traditional braces can also be more difficult because they are attached directly to your teeth. Invisalign® aligner trays are removable, meaning you can take them out to eat or brush your teeth. While it is recommended to wear them for at least 22 hours a day to get their full effect, it is still advantageous to have the option of removing them.
Visits to our office are nearly the same as traditional braces. Just as traditional braces need to be tightened every two to three weeks, you will need to get a new set of Invisalign® aligner trays about every two weeks.
Aligner trays are less prone to breaks. Invisalign® trays can break if you’re not careful with them. However, it is far more common to have the wire give way on a set of braces or have a bracket come off. When braces break, it means a delay in moving your teeth and an extra trip back to see us.
