We fit you with customized whitening trays that are shaped to your teeth and gums exactly. You fill the trays with our hydrogen peroxide solution, which is tailored to the color of your teeth now and how much whiter you desire them to be. The peroxide penetrates your enamel to get to the discolored molecules, bleaching them whiter to reveal a luminous smile.
How Long Does It Take?
This depends on the severity of your stains and your genetic make-up. Generally, the longer you keep the solution on your teeth and the higher the peroxide percentage, the whiter they become. Some of our patients keep the trays in for a few hours per day, and some of them keep them in overnight. Most patients see results in a few days to a few weeks. The higher the peroxide percentage, the shorter time period you should keep them in. Many people have sensitive gums and need less peroxide, that is why it is not a “one gel fits all” system.
What’s Wrong With Home Remedies?
There are many at-home whitening products on the market today, including whitening toothpastes, strips or gels, and generic mouth guard-like trays. The toothpastes and strips can be less expensive however, they usually do not have the percentage of peroxide needed to whiten your teeth effectively. The generic mouth guard-like trays do not hold the bleaching agents in place as well as our custom trays do, and are not tailored to your teeth and gums’ sensitivity.
